How do I get Baptized or Confirmed myself?

Baptism and Confirmation are Sacraments - outward signs of a deeper spiritual reality. More specifically they are Sacraments of Intitiation - sacraments by which a person is initiated into the Church.

There are three main ways that people come to these sacraments:

 - You may have been Baptised or Christened as a child or infant, and having grown up within the family of the Church have come to the point where you are ready to take on for yourself the promises made on your behalf when you were baptised by your parents and God parents.

 - You may have been Baptised or Christened as a child or infant but not confirmed as a young person; and now as an adult want to explore the Christian faith with a view to making a personal commitement to this faith.

 - You may be someone who has not yet been baptised but now, whether an adult or a younger person, want to explore the Christian faith with a view to making a personal commitment to this faith.

Whichever of these is closest to your situation, we will help prepare you for confirmation. In the third case you would be baptised and confirmed at the same time, but you would follow the same course of preparation.

Each year we offer two Confirmation courses, one for adults and one for younger people. Both courses will be advertised in church (it is assumed that if you want to be confirmed or baptised you will already be coming to church!) during the summer, with a list to sign-up, and the courses usually run from September to February (with half-term and Christmas breaks). Signing up for a course does not commit you to proceeding to confirmation, so the course is suitable for people who are new to the church and want to explore further before making a commitment, but we would encourage people at a very early stage of enquiry to talk to one of the clergy first.
