How do I find other information?

Information about burials in the Churchyard

The churchyard at St Thomas' actually consists of a small churchyard and a larger municipal burial ground. Both burial grounds were closed to new burials at the beginning of the 20th century, and no records are kept at the church. If you are trying to locate the grave of a relative we suggest you visit in person to examine the grave stones or contact the Essex Records Office. There are two other cemeteries in Brentwood, both still open: London Road and Woodman Road; you may be able to obtain information from Brentwood Borough Council.

Register Enquiries

If you have an enquiry about a register entry concerning your own baptism, confirmation or marriage (e.g. if you require a certificate for some purpose) please call in at the Church Centre during our Wednesday evening office hour, 7pm-8pm, or telephone or email. Please supply as much information as possible (name, and as narrow a date range as possible). It may be necessary to make a small charge especially if a certificate is required, but this may be waived for straightforward searches of recent registers. If your enquiry is part of genealogical research, please note that only recent registers are kept at the church - older registers are held at the Essex Records Office.

Other enquiries

Please use the email contact form, telephone the church centre (01277 201094), or visit during the Wednesday evening office hour, 7pm-8pm. You are welcome to visit the church at any time when it is open - there may not be anyone who can help you straight away, but there should be someone who can at least point you in the right direction.
