Schools

Martyrdom of St Thomas, on the school buildingWe have two voluntary-aided church schools linked with the church: St Thomas of Canterbury Infant School and St Thomas of Canterbury Junior School. The schools are seperate institutions but have a very close relationship and share the same site on Sawyers Hall Lane in Brentwood. Both schools achieve high standards, a fact borne out by recent inspections and test results.

The church takes its responsibilities towards the schools very seriously. The vicar is chairman of governors for both schools, and the clergy regularly visit the schools for assemblies and school eucharists. The schools take their status as church schools equally seriously, with a clear Christian ethos in both schools, daily collective worship, and an atmosphere of mutual care and respect among pupils and staff.
